Death Knight 3.1 Raid and Arena specs

Tanking nerf not complete

Not that it should surprise anyone, but the Death Knight tanking nerfs that were introduced in patch 3.1 are not fully complete yet.  Ghostcrawler has came out and said that there will be more nerfs depending on the way testing is going.  Essentially they are not done fine tuning the tanking yet.  He also gives some interesting insight into their tought process with the nerf to Death Knights.

The point of Howling Blast and its nerf

Ghostcrawler has chimed in on some background information concerning the nerf to Howling Blast, and in particular its relocation to a 51-point talent.  Essentially Blizzard didn’t want Howling Blast anywhere near the top of the tree so there would be no "6500 DPS dual wield builds."  That makes sense when you think about it from a class balance standpoint, but has upset some segments of the Death Knight community.

A look at dual wielding and other patch 3.1 changes

Daniel Whitcomb at WoW Insider takes a look at what has become of the dual wielding Death Knight on WoW Insider.  Many Death Knights think that dual wielding will go the way of the dinosaurs come patch 3.1, and while they may be right, there is a slighlt come back going on in the latest PTR builds.  Also covered are general tanking and dps nerfs and buffs.

New Death Knight changes on PTR build #9658

MMO-Champion is running with the latest class changes for the Patch 3.1 PTR build #9658, which should be hitting the PTR servers tonight.  Howling Blast has returned to some of its former glory, Frost Presence and Lichborne has been significantly nerfed, while the Blood tree has seen itself buffed slightly.  It’s rather clear that Blizzard isn’t done implementing all the changes yet, so there are no doubt more to come.

Dual spec options for Death Knights

WoW Insider’s weekly Death Knight column, Lichborne explored what talent trees would pair up together to work with various playstyles for dual speccing DKs. This is all pre-3.1 so keep that in mind as you read through the options. They will most likely write up a new set of options with the massive 3.1 changes are finalized.
